Project Coordinator Skills

Hands-in Skills you need in the Project Coordinator role

Many people do not have the confidence to enter a project team. This may be because they lack a formal education, do not understand the terminology, or simple do not understand how working in projects is different from doing day-to-day business!

You may have come from a background in administration, reception or business support. You may be a recent graduate. Alternatively you may just never have worked in a project. Whatever your situation, the barriers can appear insurmountable. You can be forgiven for thinking that you can never experience the energy, excitement and fun that you see those project teams having!

Everybody learns quickly when they join a project team. They learn the language, the regular cycles, meetings, reports and the ups and downs of working in projects. They learn about project schedules, project budgets, timesheets and end of month accounting. They also get involved in raising risks, participate in resolving issues and dealing with changes in direction.

Wouldn't it be wonderful to have the knowledge before getting into the team? To already be in the know and to be useful from Day 1 on the project?

Module 1 of QPC's Project Coordinator Skills course introduces you to the world of projects, the work done and the skills required by the project coordinator and typical project environments you are likely to encounter.

Module 2 moves onto the subject of status reporting in projects, covering the why, what, when and how of project reporting.

Modules 3, 4 and 5 provide basic, useful hands-on skills in project scheduling, financial management and the management of risks, issues and changes.
